INTRODUCTION.
Prayer is communication and with God.
Prayer changes our character and personality to the
better.
It breaks down our self-will.
Prayer will produce power.
Prayer opens up the door to Gods storehouse.
Prayer will give you dominion over Satan.
Prayer is to be with God. Prayer is fellowship with
God.
Prayer is to work with God.
God made himself dependent on your prayer. Evidence:
Ez.22: 30.God Yahweh is seeking someone to STAND IN THE GAB! But He found
NONE.
2.
PRAYER AND THE NAME OF JESUS.
John 14:13 And whatsoever you shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the son.
John 15:16 You have not chosen me, but I have chosen
you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your
fruit should remain; that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name,
He may give it to you.
John 16:23-24 And in that day you shall ask me
nothing, verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father
in my name, He will give it to you.
Hitherto have you asked nothing in my name. Ask and
you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
John 16:26. At that day you shall ask in my name…
You cannot come to the Father in your own name. He
has given us His Yeshua name. Jesus has given us His name, that we can heal
the sick, cast out devils and surely also in PRAY in the blessed name of Jesus
Christ.
The Father and His family:
The Father is pleased to give His children anything
and everything we possibly have faith for and ask for.
Every born again believer is a member of Gods family.
3. PRAYER AND FAITH. (New thresholds of faith)
The two most important ingredients in prayer are: 1)
Holy Spirit. 2) Faith.
As fire is necessary to incense, Holy Spirit is
necessary to prayer!
a) How do we get Faith?
b) What is Faith?
c) Faith vs. hope
d) Faith vs. Feelings
e) What it means to believe with the heart.
f) Confession - Key to unlocking Faith.
g) Confession restores broken fellowship
Confession
of the believer’s privileges in Christ.
Right
and wrong confession
Faith
for prosperity.
Enemies
of Faith.
The
God kind of faith.
a) How do we get faith?
Romans 10:17 "So faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God"
Faith comes into your hearts by hearing the Word (reading
the word)
Read the Bible every day. Get hold of God’s
promises written in the Bible.
Faith also comes by exercising the measure of faith
you already have (everybody has a portion of Faith given by the Holy Spirit.
Rom.12: 3. …. But to think soberly, according as
God has dealt to every man the MEASURE OF FAITH.
Faith is an INTEGRATED PART OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. The
more filled with the Holy Spirit the more Faith you have.
2.Tess.1: 3 …because your faith is growing
exceedingly…
Our Faith can grow. As we use the faith we have,
through trials and testing in our everyday circumstances. As the child will
use its muscles it will grow stronger, we also will grow stronger in faith as
we use it and act upon it.
Everybody have some faith. Romans. 12:3 "…according
as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.
b) What is Faith?
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of
things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"
Faith is a SUBSTANCE. The visible universe was not
created out of nothing, but out of supernatural invisible SUBSTANCE, created
out of THINGS NOT SEEN.
Faith is the trigger that transforms
one kind of substance into another kind of substance, transforms the
invisible into the visible.
c) Faith vs. hope
Hope is for the future. Faith knows that it already
has. It is already granted for sure, and it is only a matter of time until it
comes into existence. Mark 11:24 "What things so ever you desire, when
you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.
d) Faith vs. Feelings.
The evidence that you have faith for what you prayed
for is not any strong FEELING, but the prove that you have got your prayer
request is peace in mind, it is an absolute trust in Gods word and promises.
Never rely on feelings; they can quickly turn into chaos. Trust in Gods word
and peace in the heart will stand like a rock when faith is tested.
e) What it means to believe with the heart.
Mark 11:23 " for verily I say unto you, that
whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into
the sea, and shall not doubt IN HIS HEART, but shall believe that those
things which he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says.
"
You believe with the heart, not with your mind. You
can have a terrible fight going on in your mind and have a deep peace and
trust in your heart, at the same time! So move your faith 30 centimetres from
your brain down to your heart. Satan can only attack your mind, your brain; he
cannot attack your Spirit, which is seated in your heart.
f) Confessing – key to
unlocking faith.
Mark 11:23-24 …. Believe that those things he SAYS
shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he SAYS."
Romans. 10:10 "For with the heart man believes
unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Confession of Gods word increases faith! Preaching
the word increases faith also. Praying increases faith. Fasting increases
faith. More in filling of the Spirit of God increases faith.
g) Confession restores
broken fellowship.
Mark 11:25 "and when you stand praying – if
you have ought against any, that your Father also, which is in heaven may
forgive you your trespasses."
Confession of the
believer’s privilege in Christ.
2.Chor. 5:17 " Therefore if any man be in Christ,
he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are
become new."
That’s a real good confession. It is a total
revolution in ones life.
Right and wrong
confession.
1 Timothy 1:7 " for
God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a
sound mind."
Never confess fear and doubt in your prayer, but
confess what the word of God says.
Faith
for prosperity.
3. John v.2 " beloved, I wish above all things
that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers."
Deuteronomy 28:1-12 " … blessings ….
Here are listed the many ways that the Lord will
bless us if we obey Him and exercise faith.
Enemies
of faith.
Satan is the enemy number one. He will test your
faith and try to remove your faith by reasoning and discussing with your
common sense.
Senses, your 5 senses will might be deceived and your
faith taken away.
The carnal mind is an enemy to faith.
Faith is seated in your Spirit, in your heart – not
in your mind, which is seated in your brain!
Fear is the opposite of faith. Fear believes the
devils impression and what he forces into your mind, more than you believe THE
WORD OF GOD.
You have the choice, either to believe in your fear
or believe Gods promises in His Word!
You will never receive one tiny bit without having
faith.
You will receive everything when you have faith.
The
God kind of faith.
Mark 11:22 " have faith in God," or "
have God’s faith….
Here Jesus gives a fantastic lesson in faith. As a
result of Jesus demonstrating faith, the fig tree withered and died over the
night as a result of His spoken faith words. He spoke to a living tree with
only leaves and it died. Life or dead is decided and destined by faith.
4.
PRAYER AND THE WORD OF GOD.
All prayer must be based on the word of God – the
bible. Our faith must be based on the promises in the bible. God has given
humanity thousands of promises covering every aspect of life in HIS word. Our
prayer requests and supplications and our need can be found somewhere in the
word, in the promises given there.
Faith is: When in prayer, to remind God of the promises
He has given in the
Bible and to quote these same promises before the heavens throne of God.
Faith is the hand that pulls down Gods promises from
Gods storehouse into your possession.
But the prayer of FAITH does it.
5.
PRAYER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. – THE SPIRIT OF PRAYER.
ROM 8:26-27 "Likewise the Spirit also helps our
infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the
Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.
27) And He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit,
because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
There is a special portion of the Spirit of prayer,
The third person in Trinity, God the Holy Spirit is praying within you to your
heavenly Father. At the same time, in union with us is the resurrected Jesus
standing in the heavenly tabernacle, praying, interceding to the Father for
all the saints, Hebrews 7: 24-25.
Christ is burning pure and holy incense at the golden
incense altar as our High priest in the heavenly Tabernacle. But first He
sprinkled His holy and pure divine blood on the Arc of the covenant and after
the veil in the earthly tabernacle was "rent in twain (torn in two pieces)
from the top to the bottom. Matthew 27:51
David says in Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth
before you AS incense…
Incense is a symbol of prayer. The fire in the
burning incense is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said:" pray yea in
SPIRIT and truth. John 4:23
The intercessory prayer is only effective when
under strong influence of the SPIRIT OF PRAYER.
6.PRAYER AND THE WORSHIP OF GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
TABERNACLE.
Plan of the Tabernacle:
In the outer court: The burnt altar, and the laver
with water in it.
In the Holy place: to the right, the table of
Shewbread. To the left, the candlestick (seven armed) and immediately in front
of the veil the golden alter of incense.
In the Holy of Holies were the arc of covenant with
the two Cherubs covering the arc (the mercy seat) with their wings, and above
them shone the Glory cloud or the Shechinah glory, where God was hiding and
dwelling.
The ingredients of the incense:
2.Moses 30:34 …stacte, onycha, galbanum,
frankincense and salt, verse 35
These are the five components of incense. Equal
weight of each.
Well crushed and mixed. Ignited with the holy fire.
There are many kinds of prayer, as there are 5
components in the incense there are 5 kinds of prayer: 1) The prayer of
thanksgiving. 2) The prayer of praise. 3) The prayer of worship. 4) The prayer
of intercession. 5) The prayer for your own needs, and confession of your sins.
Other prayers: song in the Spirit, prayer in tongues, contemplative prayer,
etc.
Psalm 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before You AS
INCENSE, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
David says, his prayers are like incense coming up
before the throne of God Yahweh.
Revelation 5:8 …. Having every one of them harps,
and golden vials full of odours, WHICH ARE THE PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS.
The prayers of the saints are stored in heaven.
Revelation 8:3-5 …and there was given unto him much
incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the
golden altar which was before the throne. Verse 4 and the smoke of the incense,
which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the
angel’s hand.
Verse 5. took
the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth,
and there were voices, thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
7. PRAYERS AND REVIVAL.
David Brainard. Prayed for revival among Indian
tribes in North America.
The 5 praying men in the wooden cottage in New
Hebrides brought revival to the Islands.
The prayer of Yonghi Cho and his mother in law
fasting and praying brought revival to Seoul, Korea
Arthur Miller prayed for revival in Argentina. A
mighty rushing wind came in the starting moment in the bible school where the
revival first began.
Evan Roberts attended prayer meetings for 13 years
and a revival broke through in Wales.
Mel Tari and the people with him were praying and
revival came like fire in Indonesia
And many more examples of earnest prayer bringing
revival.
The Revival Prayer Verse:
2. Chronicles 7:14 " if my people which are
called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and
turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and I will forgive
their sin, and will heal their land.
It is the Christians duty to be revived, it is the
Christians duty to pray for revival, it is the Christians duty to confess
their wicked ways that God the Almighty can pour out His revival Spirit upon
the nation and heal it and forgive the sins of the Christians because they
were not light and salt to that nation.
8.THE SCHOOL OF PRAYER.
If you are a believer of prayer, you are already in
God’s school of prayer. You are learning all the time when you are praying.
The more you pray the more skilled you will be. If you are making prayer as a
lifestyle or if you make prayer as your ministry before God, you can do a
mighty work for God.
9. THE LABOUR OF PRAYER.
Praying is sometimes real hard work. It’s like
drilling for oil. Working on the job hour after hour, day after day, month
after month. At last, one beautiful day the oil well will spring up – and
you are finally through. Praying is like building a road in a rocky terrain.
You have to drill a lot of holes in the rock, and you put dynamite in the
hole, then all of a sudden after ignition a lot of work is done in short
moment. That’s the way it is in prayer life. Suddenly you are through in the
Spirit and God is doing the greater job.
10. PRAYER AND FASTING.
The fasting prayer is absolutely the most effective
prayer. If you want atomic power with God, then you must go into a fasting
period of many days, maybe many weeks, or maybe even a 40 days fasting.
Fasting and prayer is a shortcut to FATHERS HEART and to power in prayer.
(See also book on how to safely fast in many days:
Handbook on Fasting and Prayer.)
11. PRAYING AND CASTING OUT DEMONS.
Mt.17:21 …. However, this kind goes not out but by
prayer and fasting….
The lunatic boy or maybe he was an epileptic, could
not be set free of demonic influence, except someone had prayed and fasted.
Mathew 12:29 "Or else can one enter into a
strong man’s house, and spoil he’s goods, except he first bind the strong
man….
To bind the strong man takes effective prayer and
sometimes fasting in addition.
12.PRAYER AND DANIELS FASTING (DIETING).
Daniel was a special man of prayer. Dan.6:11..prayed
three times a day…
Daniel also was a man of wisdom. Sometimes he only
ate vegetables and drank water only.
He ate the same food as eaten in The Garden of Eden
before the fall of man. It seems like if we eat this kind of food, it’s much
easier to have dreams and visions; it’s much easier to be filled with the
Spirit of God and to have strong faith.
13.PRAYER AND GUIDANCE IN THE SPIRIT.
The Holy Spirit is guiding us in many different ways.
Sometimes we have a desperate need to KNOW how to pray rightly, after the will
of God.
There are:
Guidance through visions and dreams.
Guidance through Word of knowledge and word of wisdom.
Guidance through the word of God.
Guidance through prophecy
Guidance through audible voice, whether outside or
inside.
Guidance through the inner man, feeling of "Urim
and Tummim," yes or no answer.
Guidance through life’s circumstances. (Jonah in
the storm)
See also lesson on: Seven ways of guidance by the
Holy Spirit in lecture on: Manifestations of the Holy Spirit.)
14.PRAYER IN THE PRAYER CLOSET.
This is prayer where you are entirely alone. God and
you alone.
Mt.6: 6 …when you pray, enter into your closet, and
when you have shut the door, pray to your Father, which is in secret…
Your prayer closet could be anywhere, for example
when you are driving your car alone, you can pray undisturbed. When you go for
a walk alone, you can pray without anybody talking to you. Or in your bed at
night. A thousand places could be your prayer closet. The point is that you
pour out your heart before God your heavenly Father, when you are ALONE and
undisturbed in His presence. Then and there you are intimately communicating
with God the Father.
15. UNITED PRAYER.
Another kind of prayer is when two or more persons
agree in the Spirit to ask for a specific, distinct subjects or problems.
This is found in Mt. 18:19-20. Whatsoever you shall
bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever you shall loose on earth
shall be loosed in heaven. V.19… That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching anything they shall ask it shall be done for them of My Father which
is in heaven. V.20 …for where two or tree are gathered together in My name,
there am I in the midst of them.
Remember, to agree in the Spirit, is not just a
mental agreement, but it is entirely in the spiritual level, agreeing in the
SPIRIT.
16.PRAYER IN THE CONGREGATION.
Acts 4:23 "vers24). …they lifted up their
voice with one accord…
Read also Mt. 18:18-20
This is united prayer. Certainly, the prayer of the
congregation is very powerful, even to day.
17.PRAYER IN THE FAMILY.
The head of the family is also priest in the family
and he must lead in prayer in he’s own house.
Cornelio was such a man. Notice, He was even a
gentile but his PRAYERS and his ALMS were heard and accepted in heaven. Acts
10:31 …your prayers and your alms are come up for a memorial before God….
Fillip the evangelist in Samaria also was a good
priest in he’s home. He had 4 unmarried daughters with prophetic gift. Acts.
21:8
Every head of the family should be the priest in he’s
own home, also when it comes to prayer and teaching the rest of the family how
to pray.
18. PRAYER AND SONG IN THE SPIRIT. PRAYER AND WORSHIP
IN SONG.
Col. 3:16 " … teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms, and hymns and spiritual songs…."
Psalms is song in the Spirit with a prophetic meaning
and sometimes it is a prayer. Think of all the wonderful psalms in the book of
psalms, David’s urgent prayer of forgiveness and a new spirit, after he fell
in sin with Batseba. All the psalms were song in the Spirit.
WORSHIP and SINGING IN THE SPIRIT:
Sometimes when the whole congregation is singing in
the spirit. That is pure worship of the Lord our God. This is prayer on a high
level. This is what the bible calls singing hymns.
19.PRAYER AND THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT.
To rehearse the gifts of the spirit:
The three vocal gifts:
Speaking in tongues
Interpreting speaking in tongues.
Prophecy
The three revelation gifts:
The word of knowledge.
The word of wisdom.
The gift of discerning spirits.
The three power gifts:
Gift of diverse healings
Gift of miracles.
Gift of Faith.
In ministering with the gifts of the Spirit we are
very much dependent on prayer and faith, in fact we cannot use the gifts of
the Holy Spirit without praying and having Faith.
Speaking in tongues are real prayer. It’s praying
in the Spirit to God. When we lay hands on the sick we have to pray, otherwise
nothing will happen. When you are performing miracles you have to claim the
miracle in prayer, to say the commanding words, otherwise the miracle will not
take place.
Especially the gift of Faith is very much dependent
of prayer. James (Jacobs) blessing of Ephraim and Manasseh Gen. 48. Isaac’s
blessing of Jacob and Esau. Gen. 27.
Ministering with the gifts of the Spirit and prayer
cannot be separated from one another.
20. PRAYER AND SPIRITUAL WARFARE.
PART 1.
A) Knowing our enemy. Dan.10:13
og 20. Territorial spirits. (Spiritual Intelligence
Agency)
B) Satan’s Hierarchy and Battle plans. Ephesians
6:12
C) The armour of God. Steps to spiritual fitness.
Ef.6: 13-14
D) Three battlegrounds
E) Using your God given authority
Knowing
the enemy. Mossad, the famous Israeli
Intelligence Agency have saved Israel from disaster and even made Israel
winning wars, because they have very good information of the enemy. We, the
Christians, as the spiritual Israel, also can have very important information
of our enemy, which is Satan and all he’s hordes of demons and fallen angels.
This information and insight we can only obtain in Gods word (the bible) and
by the Holy Spirit revealing secrets in the spiritual realm.
Territorial spirits: Daniel
10: 13 "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me…"
Daniel 10:20-21 " …and now I will return to
fight with the Prince of Persia, and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of
Greece shall come."
The archangel Gabriel fought with evil forces over
two countries. He only got help from the archangel Michael.
B) Satan’s Hierarchy and battle plans.
Ephesians 6:12 " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
PRINCIPALITIES, against POWERS, against the RULERS OF DARKNESS of this world,
against SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS in high places."
Four categories of Satan’s army, cunningly build up
in a hierarchy.
C) The armour of God. Ephesians 6:14-17
".. Having your loins girt with truth, having on the breastplate of
righteousness, v.15 and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace, v.16 above all, taking the shield of faith, to quench the fiery darts
of the wicked v.17 and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the
spirit, which is the word of God."
Vers 18, praying always, with all prayer and
supplication in the spirit…
D) Three battlegrounds.
Your Mind, your Heart (Soul) and your mouth.
E) Using your God given authority.
Luke 10:19 " Behold, I give unto you power to
tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and
nothing shall by any means heard you."
Mark 10:15... go ye into all the world…."
Our authority is only because of the blood of Jesus
and by the authority in His name.
PART 2.
a) The
spiritual conflict.
b) To
bind the strong.
c) Our
weapon in spiritual warfare
d)
Attack the strongholds of Satan.
e)The
battle of Poland, India, Denmark, all nations.
a) The spiritual conflict.
The origin of evil spirits. There was a race of
created beings in heaven, called angels, before the Earth and ADAM were
created. There were 3 great Princes or archangels: Lucifer, the light bearer,
Gabriel, head of the messenger angels, Michael, head of the war angels.
There was a war in Heaven. Lucifer and his fallen
angels were cast out of heaven.
Lucifer rebelled against God and became Satan the
adversary of God. Isaiah 14:12-16 " how art you fallen from heaven, o
Lucifer, son of the morning…."
Lucifer was leader of the tambourines and pipes (Music
and praise) in heaven. Ezekiel 28:13-19. (There is a lack of musicians and
worshippers in heaven, since the fall of Lucifer – and the vast majority of
the music on earth to day is inspired from the dark powers).
Lucifer is behind world trading and money
transactions.
Ezekiel 28: You lived in Eden, the garden of God…
Ezekiel 28: 16 you
were busy buying and selling and this led you to violence and sin…(Good News
Translation)
Satan was cast out of heaven together with 1/3 of the
angels who fell with him. Ezekiel 28:17
And Revelation 12:7-9 "and there was a great war
in heaven…v9 he was cast out into the earth, and he’s angels were cast out
with him…
They, Satan and his fallen angels have build a
hostile kingdom, in resistance to God in the "heavenlies" that is
the area between, Gods dwelling place and the visible heaven. Satan and the
fallen angels together with all the lower dark forces (demons) constitute the
kingdom of darkness.
Dark powers are in control, partly or totally, over
every nation, every city, every village, every house, and every person.
The very goal of the devil is the destruction and
annihilation of the supreme of Gods creation – the MAN.
b) To bind the strong
Mathew 16:19 …whatsoever you shall bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven… (Peter)
Mathew 18.18 …whatsoever ye shall bind….
Colossians 2:15 " and having spoiled (disarmed)
principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them
in it.
Mt. 12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s
house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he
will spoil his house. (Only prayer does this)
c) Our weapon in spiritual warfare
THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB.
THE TESTIMONY OF THE WORD
Revelation 12:10-11
THE NAME OF JESUS
John 14:13-14
PRAYER
Daniel 10:12-13 the fallen angel prince of Persia
attacked by Michael because of Daniel’s prayer of spiritual warfare.
PRAISE AND WORSHIP
2.Chronicles 20:21-30 Jehoshaphat's victory
FASTING and prayer.
Fasting is a very strong weapon in tearing down the
strongholds of the enemy.
THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
Especially the gift of discerning spirits and the
gift of faith.
THE ARMOUR OF GOD.
Ephesians 6:14-18 ..The belt of truth – the
breastplate of righteousness – as shoes willingness to go with the gospel
– shield of faith – the helmet of salvation – the sword of the spirit
– praying always….
THE TRUTH. Satan fears the truth. Jesus IS the truth,
the way and the life. God’s word IS the truth. The truth poured in upon him
will defeat him and the truth will set the captives free.
THE HOLY GHOST is the strongest force outside and
inside the Universe!
Equation of achieving the impossible:
PRAYER(FASTING) + FAITH + SPIRIT OF PRAYER
= ACHIEVING THE IMPOSSIBLE + THE POSSIBLE!
d) Attack the strongholds of Satan
2.Chorintians 10:4 ".. Our weapons of warfare
are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (strongholds
of Satan)
Our weapons are defensive and offensive.
Defensive weapon is the shield of FAITH quenching all
the fiery darts of the enemy.
Offensive weapon is the two-edged sword, which is the
word of God. (to pray in spiritual warfare is to pull out the sword out of the
shield)
e) The Battle is going on to day. Mighty armies of
both dark forces and angel forces are moving because of the prayers of the
warriors in spiritual warfare. The battle is going on in the unseen area over
the strong catholic Poland and over India, the country with millions of idols;
even the territory over Denmark is a battlefield. Islam is invading every
country in Europe these recent decades. – May God raise up an army of prayer
warriors in these countries. If not, billions of souls will go lost forever
and ever.
God is still seeking someone to stand in the gab.
21.PRAYER HINDRANCE.
1) Immorality is a Prayer hindrance.
Hebrews 13:4 " Marriage is honourable in all….
2) Husbands should honour their wives, or their
prayers will not be answered.
1.Pet.3: 7 Likewise you husbands…
3) Unbelief is most likely hindrance number one.
James 1:6-7 " But let him ask in faith…
4) A sinner’s prayer will not be heard in heaven,
only the prayer of his repentance.
John 9:31 "…We know that God does not hear
sinners ……
5) Hidden sin in heart will be an effective hindrance
of prayer.
Psalm 66:18. " If I regard iniquity in my heart
the Lord will not hear me"
6) Unforgiving hearts will not be answered in prayer.
Mk 11:25 " And when you stand praying, forgive.
7) A curse inherited from the forefathers
or occult practice will hinder any prayer.
EXODUS 20: 5 " …for I am a jealous God,
visiting iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth
generation of them that hate Me…
8)Praying in vain
James 4:3 " you pray and receive not, because
you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts"
9) Why are some
sicknesses healed, others are not? Why are some psychosomatic diseases never
healed? Why this mysterious delay of healing?
a)
Unforgiveness. Mk.11: 25.
b)
Unbelief. James 1,6 pray with faith and not doubt… And Mk 11,24 believe that
he already has it…
c)
Disobedience to the word. (Word in the bible)
d)
Disobedience to the voice of God. (Spoken by the Holy Ghost)
e)
Indulgence. James 4,3.. That ye may consume it upon your lusts..
f)
Occultism and curses thereof
g)
Broken wove.
h)
Innocent bloodshed (provoked abortion)
i)
Idolatry (hidden or unknowingly)
j)
Idolatry (Openly worship of others gods, so Jesus becomes just one more god
among many others (India)
k)
Superstition.
l)
Praying to the dead (Saints, black Madonna, Holy Mother of God, Virgin Mary,
ancestors, using the Rosary in prayer.)
m)
Worship of spirits
n)
Sin in your life, plain sin might be the reason why you never get your
healing.
o)
Bitterness, bitter root,
p)
Bitterness and anger turned against God Yahweh, the worst kind of bitterness (don’t
murmur with God Yahweh.) Poor father image – of God the Father.
q) Simple and pure laziness in prayer, the lazy will obtain no answer to prayer.
r) Curse from 3-4 generation. Exodus 30:5
s) Freemasonry
t) Satanism ( written devotion to Satan written with
ones own blood )
u) New age involvement.
v) Immorality.
22. PERSEVERE IN PRAYER.
Ephesians 6:18 " Praying always… with all
perseverance….
Elijah on Mount Carmel. 1.King. 18:43-44 " …seven
times…"
The widow and the unjust judge. Luke 18:3-8
Daniel persevered in prayer 21 days, although the
angel was send forth the FIRST day and his prayer was heard in the heaven the
very first day. Think of it. If Daniel stopped his praying the twentieth day,
the archangel Gabriel would never visit him on twenty first day of Daniel’s
fasting and prayer season.
23.
PRAYER AND GOD'S LOVE.
Galatians
5:6 ….but faith works by love.
Faith
is the most important ingredient in prayer and faith works by love,
consequently the more you show of God’s love the more you achieve in prayer!
However,
this is the love of Christ in action in your prayer life, not mere human love.
Love
and faith are among the most important of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Galatians
5: 22-23. But the fruits of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, FAITH, meekness, temperance.
Ask
God to baptize you in the Holy Ghost and with the fire. Luke 3: 16. Then you
have love and faith operating in your prayer life causing incredible answers
to prayer.
24. PRAYER AND INNER HEALING. HEALING OF THE
EMOTIONS.
Jesus will off cause heal every kind of sickness and
disorder in body and soul. Included is also mind and emotions. Every abnormal
condition in the mind and the emotions He will make perfect.
2.Tim 1:7 "for God has not given us the spirit
of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND."
You see, fear could be a spirit, but God wants to
give us peace and a sound mind. Emotional disturbances frequently are
influence of evil spirits. - See also lecture on Demonology.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free,
you shall be free indeed.
Jesus wants to set us free in spirit, soul and mind.
25. INTERCESSION PRAYER.
Hebrews 7:25 "….seeing He ever lives to make
INTERCESSION for them.
Our Saviour is standing in the heavenly tabernacle
making intercession for us.
Romans. 8:26 "….the Spirit himself makes
intercession for us….
Romans 8:27 "….He makes intercession for the
saints according to the will of God.
Even the Holy Spirit within you is an intercessor.
Romans 8: 26 ..for the Spirit himself makes intercession for us...
Psalm 106:23 …had not Moses, He’s chosen, stood
before Him in the breach, To turn away He’s wrath…
God is looking for someone to stand in the gab (breach)
Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them that
should make up the hedge, and STAND IN THE GAP before me for the land that I
should not destroy it. But He found none.
A vast majority of souls are lost in hell in all
eternity. Billions and billions of souls never had the chance to come under
conviction of their sins and never came up to the possibility of being born
again, and wherefore loosing the salvation of their souls, because nobody
loved them enough to intercede for them. Nobody had compassion on them enough
to intercede in unutterable groanings. Only the power of the just, travailing
in great soul pain under the influence and taken over by the SPIRIT OF PRAYER,
will prevail. Jesus Christ already suffered and paid the full punishment and
it is completely unnecessary for any human being to end up in the eternal
Hellfire. Ezekiel 18:23 God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked.
Effective interceding can only be accomplished when
praying in the Spirit, like Paul explains in Romans 8:26-27.
Praying without the Spirit will accomplish close to
nothing. Interceding under strong influence of the Spirit of prayer will
produce enormous results. Faith is released and mighty answers to prayers will
inevitable take place.
26. PRAYER AND HOLINESS. PRAYER AND THE ANOINTING.
The more holy living the more power in your prayers!
The more Christ like character the more anointing.
The more Divine love in your heart the more power in
prayer.
27. PRAYER AND TRAVAIL OF THE SOUL.
Mathew 25:36-46 Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane
Romans 8:26 2 …makes intercession with GROANINGS,
which cannot be uttered."
28. THE PRAYER OF LOOSING AND BINDING.
Mathew 18:18-20 ".. Whatsoever you shall bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall
be loosed in heaven…
29. PRAYER AND OCCULTISM.
Exodus 20:4-5 "… you shall not make unto you
any graven image v5. You shall not bow down to them, nor serve them…for I
the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon
the children unto the third and the fourth generation of them that hate me.
(See also lesson on: Spiritual housecleaning of
occultism)
30.
PROPHETIC PRAYER.
Sometimes when one is offering personal prayer,
intercession prayer, the prayer will turn into a prophetic prayer and I find
myself praying about hidden needs of which I am totally ignorant, but the
Spirit in me is praying out such hidden things.
31.PRAYER
MEETINGS AND HOW TO CONDUCT A PRAYER MEETING.
I. The purpose and the design of prayer meetings.
II. How to conduct a prayer meeting.
III. Some difficulties in prayer meetings.
I. The
purpose and design of prayer meetings.
a)
United prayer in a prayer meeting is to promote UNION among Christians. Union
and love are strong when we are pouring out our hearts before God.
b)
Pray in such a way that you can move the heart of God!
c)
Another important purpose with prayer meetings is to pray for conviction and
conversion of sinners.
II.
How to conduct a prayer meeting.
a) It
is often well to open a prayer meeting by reading a short portion of Gods word.
(Not a sermon)
b)
Make some few remarks concerning prayer, exhorting and explaining prayer.
c) In
calling persons to pray, let those who desire to pray let them pray. The
prayer of a cold and worldly person could "freeze" the whole prayer
meeting. Call on those who are the most Spirit filled.
d) The
prayers should always be very short. Those who pray long, do it not because
they have the Spirit of prayer, but because they have not. Let them keep to
the point and pray for what they came to pray for.
e)
Each one should pray for one or a very few objects. Whenever a man has deep
feelings it is always because he feels for one particular point, and after he
prayed through the Spirit will seize automatically, at least for a while.
f) It
is important that the time is fully occupied, so as not to leave long seasons
of silence.
g) An
excellent way to conduct a prayer meeting is to let everyone pray in one
accord. Much more is accomplished when everybody are praying at the same time.
10 persons is praying out loud there will be ten times as much prayer, as if
10 people are praying one at a time.
III.
Some difficulties in a prayer meeting.
Where
the congregation have no confidence in the leader in regard to he’s ability,
he’s influence will make the prayer meeting ineffective or collapse.
Where
the leader lacks spirituality. This will cause dryness and a coldness and his
lack of unction will most likely take away the anointing of the whole
congregation.
If
the leader has a bad or bitter spirit it will ruin the prayer meeting.
Persons
coming late to the meeting after the people have begun praying and someone is
coming scrambling, while people have fixed their minds on the subject of
prayer, closed their eyes, this will dampen the spirit of prayer very much.
When
persons make cold prayers, and cold confessions of sin they are sure to quench
the Spirit of prayer.
A
great deal of singing often injures a prayer meeting. The agonising Spirit of
prayer does not incline people to sing.
Introducing
subjects of controversy into prayer will defeat a prayer meeting. Let
controversies be settled somewhere else.
The
leader and others must try very much to cooperate with the Spirit and find out
what the Spirit wants to do in this particular meeting.
Prayer
meetings are often TOO LONG. They should always be dismissed while the
believers have feeling, and not wait until all feeling is exhausted, and the
Spirit gone.
When
Christians spend all the time in praying for themselves and their own folks.
They should have done this in their prayer closets. When we come together for
prayer meetings we should be prepared for effective intercession for others.
Do
not "preach" to the congregation in your prayer.
Remarks:
A
prayer meeting is an index to the spiritual state in the church.
Every
minister ought to know that if the prayer meetings are neglected, all his
labours are in vain.
A
great responsibility rests upon the leader of a prayer meeting. He must be
prepared in both head and heart (Spirit).
Prayer
meetings are the most important meetings in the church. They will:
Promote
union.
Increase
brotherly love.
Promote
their own growth in grace.
Cherish
and advance spirituality in the individual.
Change
the "heart" of the church.
N.B. The leader sometimes should let the praying
congregation pray all together in one accord as in Acts 4:24 and 31 "…they
lifted up their voice with one accord…. V.31 …the place were shaken where
they were assembled…"
32.
PRAYER AND THE WILL OF GOD, (HOW TO KNOW THE WILL OF GOD)
1.John 5:14-15 " and this the confidence that we
have in Him, that if we ask anything according to He’s will, He hears us…
How to know the will of God:
a) Listen to your "inward voice" The Holy
Spirit speaking to your Spirit. The Holy Spirit will tell you the will of God;
His will in specific matters and you can have distinct information in distinct
cases.
b) Compare your prayer request with the bible, the
word of God. If there is something in your PRAYER THAT OPPOSES THE BIBLE, then
change your prayer into the will of God and you will have the answer.
33.
PRAYER AND THE MINISTRIES, THE APOSTLES MAIN OFFICE,
Acts 6:4 "and we will give ourselves continually
to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
The apostles left the social work (to serve at the
tables) they knew that their main office and ministry were to serve in PRAYER
and giving the word of God to the people.
The four most important pillars in church life were
and still are to day: Acts 2:42 "and they continued steadfastly in the
apostles doctrine (word of God), and fellowship (gatherings of the believer),
and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."
34.
PRAYER IN THE BIBLE, JESUS, DANIEL, DAVID, JOB, ABRAHAM, MOSES, JABEZ, KING
HEZEKIAH, SOLOMON, CONGREGATION in JERUSALEM,
Jesus` prayer in John 17:
Daniel’s prayer, Dan 9:3-19:
David’s prayers in the book of psalms:
Psalms 22 (a prophetic prayer of Jesus on the cross)
Psalms 23 (the shepherd psalm)
Psalm 51 (David’s repentance after he had gone to
Batseba)
Jobs prayer:
Job 42:1-6 (Job humbles himself before God)
Job 42:8 and 10 (Job intercedes for he’s friends)
Abraham’s prayer:
Genesis 18: 23-33 (Abraham is interceding for the
JUST in Sodom and Gomorrah.)
Moses` prayer:
Numbers 14:11-20 (Moses interceding for the children
of Israel.)
Jabez` prayer:
1.Chron.4: 9-10 (Jabez` future was changed because of
this single prayer)
King Hezekiah` prayer:
2.Kings 20:1-6 (Hezekiah` prayer is changing God’s
decision and plan for he’s life and God is adding 15 years to he’s
lifetime.
Solomon’s prayer:
2.Chron.7: 13-42 (Solomon is praying at the
dedication of the new build temple)
2.Chron. 7:14 ff. (God is answering Solomon by night,
revealing to Solomon that his prayer is heard in heaven)
Prayer of the congregation in Jerusalem:
Acts 12:5 (the church was praying without ceasing for
Peter in prison)
Acts 4:31. And when they had prayed, the place was
shaken, where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the
Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word with boldness.
35.
PRAYER AS A SPECIAL MINISTRY. ANNA THE PROPHETESS.
Luke 2:36-37 " …Anna. …But served God with
fasting and prayers night and day."
Colossians 4:12 ". Epaphras.. Always labouring
fervently for you in prayers…
Epaphras vas serving with prayers.
Anna served with fasting and prayer as a special ministry.
36.
PRAYER AND TITHING
Malachi 3:9-10 " v.9.you are cursed with a curse….
V.10.bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in
mine house, and prove me now herewith, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not
open you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing, that there shall not
be room enough to receive it."
Certainly our prayers can be a hindrance because of
the curse of robbing God of He's’ tithing!
If we rob God He will most likely withdraw His
blessing from our prayers.
37.
PRAYER AND ANOINTING WITH OIL.
James 5:14-16 " Is any seek among you? Let him
call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him anointing him
with oil in the name of the Lord v.15 and the prayer of faith shall save the
seek and the Lord shall raise him up,
Using prayer cloth anointed with oil and prayed over
and the laying hands on of the elders is sometimes convenient.
38. ON
BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT OF GOD, THE SPIRIT OF PRAYER.
Cleanse your vessel. (Spiritual housecleaning)
Break up the fallow ground and the soil can be tilled
again.
(See also lesson on: Temperament and the Holy Ghost,
(Character building and infilling of Holy Ghost)
39. PRAYER AND GIVING ALMS.
Acts
10: ... and he (the angel) said unto him, Thy prayers and thine ALMS are come
up for a memorial before God.
Cornelio
was a man who prayed always and gave alms to the Jewish people. He was an
officer in the Roman army but God fearing. His offerings together with his
prayers were very much rewarded as his whole household were saved and baptised.
In Acts 10:31 the angel said: Cornelio, your prayer is heard, and thine alms
are remembered in the sight of God.
Every
Pound or Dollar or Rupee or Euro or Yen or etc, you are giving to the Kingdom
of God is registered on your heavenly accounts. Yes surely, what you give to
the poor you are giving to God. You can never out give God! Moreover your
prayer is heard and answered.
40.
BLESSINGS AND PRAYERS IN THE BIBLE, AARONS BLESSING, APOSTOLIC BLESSING, THE
LORDS PRAYER.
Aarons blessing: Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord blesses you and keeps you.
The Lord make His face shines upon you, and is
gracious unto you.
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give
you peace.
The apostolic blessing, Paul’s blessing:
2.Corinthians 13:14.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ,
And the love of God,
And the communion of the Holy Ghost,
Be with you all, amen.
Worship: Psalm 100:5 2.Chron. 7:3
For the Lord is god,
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endureth to all generations.
The Lords prayer: Matthew 6:9
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from
evil.
For thine are the kingdom, the power, and the glory
forever.
Amen.
The Lords supper. During the bread breaking service:
(after Didache)
Maran atha: Come Lord or Maranatha: the Lord has come.
41.
PRAYER AND PREACHING.
Ephesians
6:19 And (pray) for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my
mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the Gospel.
If you
in prayer can bind the dark forces before the preaching, the inspired words
can be given into the Spirit of the preacher unhindered and he can deliver his
message under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
On the
other hand, neglect of prayer or if nobody else are praying for you before
preaching there is no guard against evil and negative influence and the
anointing might vanish away and the sermon becomes powerless and boring.
42.
PRAYER AND GOD’S PROMISES IN THE BIBLE AND CONDITIONS OF ANSWER TO PRAYER.
To
receive answer to prayer, to make God’s promises become realities in your
situation, there are conditions to be fulfilled. God’s promises are always
linked to conditions. There are supernatural laws to obey, when it comes to
prayer.
Mark
11: 24 Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray,
BELIEVE that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (The condition is TO
BELIEVE!)
Mark
11: 25 and when ye stand praying, FORGIVE, if ye have aught against any, that
your Father, which is in heaven, forgives your trespasses. (The condition is
TO FORGIVE!)
Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Mark
9: 29 and He said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing, but prayer
and fasting. (Here the condition is prayer AND FASTING!)
Mathew
7: 7 pray, and it shall be given unto you. (Condition is to PRAY!)
John
9: 31 now we know that God heareth not sinners, but if any man be a worshipper
of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth. (Here are three conditions to be
fulfilled, firstly, you must be SAVED and SINS FORGIVEN, secondly, be a
WORSHIPPER of God, thirdly, do HIS WILL!)
43.
PRAYER AND ALWAYS GIVE THANKS TO GOD.
1.Thess.
5: 17-18 pray without ceasing. 18. In every thing give thanks.
44.
THE SPIRIT OF GRACE AND SUPPLICATIONS.
Zechariah
12:10 and I will pour out upon the house of David upon the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the SPIRIT OF GRACE AND OF SUPPLICATIONS, and they shall look upon
Me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourneth for
his only Son, and shall be in bitterness for His fist born
The
Spirit of grace and supplications is available for Christians as a mighty aid
in prayer and supplication and intercessory prayer - when
you fulfil the conditions!
45.
PRAYER AND WORSHIP IN SONG.
Worship
is just another word for loving Jesus. It is also a kind of prayer, only this
kind of prayer is sung out.
Worship
and singing in the Spirit in one accord is also prayer, but in an unknown
language.
46.CONTEMPLATIVE
PRAYER.
Isaiah
40: 31 but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall
mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary, and they
shall walk and not faint.
To
wait upon the Lord is to be still and listen to the Lord in an attitude of
adoration and gratitude and humility. It is a listening to what the Lord
communicates to your SPIRIT!
Frequently
we are so busy talking (praying) to God that it becomes impossible for the
Father to talk to YOU, in spite of you are He’s beloved child.
Real
prayer is two-way communication, not just one-way communication, where you are
doing all the talking.
47.
PRAYER AND THE BAPTISM IN FIRE.
Luke
3:16 .. He shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost AND WITH FIRE.
Acts
2: 3 and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat
upon each of them.
Acts
1:8 but ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you…
Luke
24: 49 but tarry ye in Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
48.
PRAYER AND TEMPTATION.
It is
not a sin to be tempted, it becomes sin when you FALL because of temptation.
Jesus
says in Luke 22: 40 Pray that ye enter not into temptation. Verse 46, Why
sleep ye? Rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.
1.Corinthians
10:13 There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God
is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but
will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to
bear it.
The
way out of consuming temptation is praying.
49.
PRAYER AND THE GLORY OF GOD.
Luke
9: 28-29 … He took Peter, John and James, and went up into a mountain to
pray. 29 And AS HE PRAYED the fashion of His countenance was altered and His
raiment was white and glistering. 34 while he thus spake, there came a cloud
and overshadowed them, and they feared as they entered into the cloud.
50.
PRAYER STRATEGIES, PRAYER AND PRACTICAL PERFORMANCE..
a)
Time of the day is not important.
Some
people like praying in the morning, when the mind is clear.
Some
prefer praying in the evening, when no other duties are pressing on.
Some
find the best time for prayer is in the quiet night.
Choose
the time convenient to you. Most likely people don’t have time for prayer at
all. – You must TAKE time!
b) The
position you take when in prayer also is of no importance. Some prefer praying
with closed eyes. Some say Jesus lifted up His eyes to heaven and prayed,
consequently some people pray with their eyes open.
You
can’t see God with your physical eye. Open up your spiritual eyes.
Some
find it comfortable to pray down on their knees, some are standing to their
feet.
Some
have a good time of prayer when walking. Some have found a very good prayer
closet in their beds. Some have the possibility to pray while working and even
praying would not interrupt the routine.
The
key point is, that you DO PRAY.
c)
Shall I pray out loud, or shall I whisper my prayer to God (Hannah did that)
Shall I even think my prayer up to God or sighing or shouting or weeping my
prayer to God – Its up to you, you decide.
d)
Short or long prayers.
One
famous preacher was asked: Do you pray long? His answer was: "I don’t
pray one hour, but it won’t last one hour until I pray!
Ups
– that man is praying, and very often indeed.
If you
find it difficult to say long prayers, then pray short, concentrated, specific,
well-defined, effective prayers!
Don’t
wait for the Spirit to come heavily upon you right from the beginning.
Sometimes it takes a greater deal of will and power to start praying.
e)
When praying in a prayer meeting, shall we pray all in one accord or shall we
line up in the queue and pray one after another? A good leader of the prayer
meeting will make the right decision.
f)
Should I pray much in tongues? (Paul did)
Praying
much in tongues is building up your Spirit.
Should
I pray in tongues in public or keep silence?
Be
sensitive to the Holy Ghost and let HIM lead and guide you.
51.
NEGLECT OF PRAYER.
Prayer
is the breath of the soul.
If a
person stops breathing he will die very quickly.
If the
Christian forgets praying he is spiritually dying. He is a backslider.
